Actress Cate Blanchett will soon be honored at the upcoming Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF). She will be receiving the honors as an ‘Outstanding Performer of the Year’ at the fest which is scheduled next year. The festival will begin on 30 January 2014 and will continue till 10 February 2014. The versatile actress will be awarded on February 1.
This will be the 29th edition of Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Cate will be honored for her excellent performance in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine as a rich Manhattan socialite who is thrown into poverty. The declaration of honoring the 44 year old has been made by SBIFF’s executive director Roger Durling. When asked about the selection, Roger said,” In her first collaboration with master director Woody Allen, Blanchett knocks it out of the park in the best performance of her already illustrious career.”
The Australian actress has already bagged the Oscar and has done some excellent flicks in her career. Elizabeth and The Aviator are amongst her few great ventures. Cate who will next be seen in George Clooney’s ‘The Monuments Men’ the following year, will be honored at the ‘Santa Barbara’s historic Arlington Theatre’.
Charlize Theron, Kate Winslet, Heath Ledger,Helen Mirren, Angelina Jolie, Penelope Cruz and Jennifer Lawrence have been the very few actors who have previously been honored with this prestigious award.
